How Do I Care For My Copper Jewelry?

The Best way to care for your Copper is to wear it often  The natural oils from your skin will keep the copper, and pearls nice and shiny. Copper will acquire a beautiful patina over time. We feel that the patina is part of the natural beauty of the metal.

As much as possible do not wear your jewelry when working out or doing any heavy physical activity that will cause excessive sweating.

Clean your copper jewelry with a soft cloth if dirty you can use some liquid dish soap.

If you prefer, you can coat the metal with clear fingernail polis to maintain the shine.

Why Does Copper Sometimes Turn My Skin Green?

Have you ever noticed a green tint on your skin after wearing copper jewelry? That is a chemical reaction between the copper, oxygen and the sweat on your skin. The process is called oxidization and is your body's way of absorbing the copper. Copper is an essential element and your body needs it. If you skin is turning green it is your body's way of telling you that something is missing.

We typically notice this happening on hot days when when we are working outside and sweating. What can you do when this happens? Luckily the green washes off easily with soap and water. You can also coat your copper with clear fingernail polish and this will keep the green away. Of course some of our customers see the green as proof the copper is working.

Mother’s Tear Gorget

This necklace is so beautiful! I received many compliments, which also opened the door to share the story behind it. Thank you.

One critique. The connection between the sphere and the circle separated. Thankfully I didn’t lose it when it dropped off. Could use glue to keep it from spreading? Is there a way to seal the chain so that it doesn’t change color after wearing around neck?

Hi Yvonne,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We would love to fix your gorget for you. If you would like to send it back I can provide free postage for you. As for sealing the chain there are two methods one is to use fingernail polish the other jeweler's wax. Neither is permenant. The good news is copper cleans up very easily with just a little soap and water and a soft cloth.
Wado,
Lisa

Don’t Be Afraid of This Necklace!

Yes, it is large enough to be noticed, but not “too much”. It is lite and well balanced. The colors and finish are subdued and earthy. Really very pretty. I wear it with everything from tees to dressy items. It has meaning and is a lovely item.
